What did you like most in your experience?
“Once at the libraries the work was very efficient and organised, this was helped by having confident and appropriate team leaders. I LOVED the orphanage and the vegetable patch!! I love chicken and rice so the food was good! The house was better than I was expecting too!”
What did you like least in your experience?
“I loved it all but the only thing would be that all the Loughborough and Manchester people were there at the same time.”
Further comments:
“Overall the trip was amazing!! The groups seemed to get on really well so I would definitely be recommending this to others!! Especially to any nursing friends if there’s more work with the HIV and AIDS project!!”

What did you like most in your experience?
“I really enjoyed working on the projects. In particular I enjoyed the interaction with the children and locals of the community. I thought the library builds were well organised and we were extremely productive. I especially enjoyed working at the orphanages with the babies. I thought assisting in creating a vegetable patch was a great idea that would be extremely beneficial! I also liked the fact that we were able to see most if not all of the main tourist attractions that Ghana had to offer on our visit.”
What did you like least in your experience?
“I enjoyed every part of the trip and was extremely satisfied with the running of it all!The moments I least enjoyed were when the toilet broke in the house and when we had a powercut for like 2 days. But these were only minor things and just formed part of the Africa experience.”
Further comments:
“Thank you very much for such a great trip. I have met some fantastic people and had some life changing experiences. I would recommend volunteering with Thrive Africa to all students!”

What did you like most in your experience?
“The rewarding feeling you get seeing the children happy when you’ve done a good job, or simply after playing with them (e.g football) for an hour or so is amazing.
The tourist type trips we did of a weekend were unforgetable, for example, a canopy walk through a rainforest and sleeping in a tree house, these are some of the best things I’ve done in my entire life, let alone the trip.”
What did you like least in your experience?
“I honestly thought the standard of the entire trip was top drawer. Considering the facilities and amenities at hand out in Ghana I don’t think anything could be improved as we did tend to have the best of everything available. Travelling was a bit of a nightmare but you get used to it and there’s no real way of improving this unless you’re going to tarmac every Ghanaian road in the land!”
Further comments:
“I’d say if you have any doubts about doing this trip (as I did) then put them aside and just go for it. It’s something you will never ever forget and it gives you a rewarding feeling like no other I have ever experienced.”
